Are you struggling with damaged hair? If you’re refreshed after a relaxing holiday, there’s a chance your hair won’t be feeling the same way. A combination of sunshine, chlorine damage, heated styling tools and fixatives can leave hair feeling dry, burnt out and brittle.
But there’s nothing to say you can’t tackle damaged hair and have it back on form by following a few simple steps.
For starters, treat it to a deep conditioning treatment by putting on a hair masque. Leave it on for as long as possible before you rinse. We recommend leaving your hair masque on and wearing a shower cap for extra heat and intensity.
Where hair is excessively dry and damaged, let the masque dry in your hair and leave overnight (you might want to put a towel on your pillow). Rinse the next morning and style as normal.
Condition every time you Wash
And don’t forget, always use a conditioner when you wash even if you have oily roots, the ends still need moisture so just avoid the base of the hair. Try leaving your conditioner on for a few minutes longer than normal, too.
If you can, lay off the heated styling tools for a while.
Get your tresses refreshed with vegetable colour; we recommend a semi-permanent tint that rinses out over time. They provide great results and are much gentler.
Get rid of Split Ends
Have the ends of your hair trimmed, particularly important so that split ends don’t ride up the hair shaft.
Hydrate from Within
Drink plenty of water to re-hydrate the hair and, if you don’t already, try to eat more nutrient-rich foods such as nuts, seeds (pumpkin) and oily fish such as salmon and mackerel.
Foods high in B6 and vitamin E, including avocados (an ingredient we use in our hair masque), bananas and leafy greens.
Go on, don’t accept damaged hair. Give hair a break of its own.
