It all Starts with the Scalp
It’s funny, the scalp is probably one of the most sensitive areas of skin, its got an important job to do and yet for many of us, it probably gets the least attention. Except that is when there is a problem. We believe that the scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. Treat it well and it will help you to grow strong, healthy hair. Keeping your follicles healthy is key. A balanced diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables such as spinach containing vitamins A and C, along with iron and selenium, will help to keep your scalp in great condition. And don’t forget! Avoid harsh detergents on the scalp. Choose shampoos with gentle cleansing ingredients.
Hydration Inside and Out
If you’ve read any of our previous blogs, you’ll know by now, our mantra of ‘Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate’. Yes, that’s right, healthy hair needs moisture. Of course, this is important when you condition your hair and we’ve made no secret of our love of pro-vitamin b5, the ingredient that penetrates the hair cuticle with moisture. So that’s got the outside covered. What about the inside? Water. It’s that simple, what’s good for your skin is good for your hair. Keeping hydrated by drinking water will help your both your hair and scalp.
The Good Hair Diet
For healthy hair, we advocate a healthy diet. Making sure you’ve got a balanced diet, with plenty of fruit and vegetables, whole grains and protein, is good for your hair and scalp. Sound dull? It doesn’t have to be. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing some of our favourite foods for healthy hair. We are kicking off with aubergine. Packed with potassium, magnesium, vitamin C and vitamin B6, aubergines are a powerhouse of nutrients for healthy hair growth. The dish in our photo also contains iron-rich tomatoes. Plus its got parmesan for a good dose of protein. We made this hair-loving recipe by Nigel Slater and served it with vitamin A-packed rocket. Tempted? You should be. This dish is delish. Not to mention simple to make and good for your hair!
For good hair health, we recommend a balanced diet with a mixture of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and proteins.
